The food choices made ??by Occelli, known throughout the world for his Langa and pasture cheeses and butter, have achieved important results.
In the small village of Valcasotto, his idea of ??creating a venue with simple food, based on local ingredients and served following local traditions, has gained both unexpected and welcome recognition.
Apart from the positive reviews from the most important food guides, two prestigious prizes have been won, one offered by Paul Massobrio’s Papillon Club during the event ‘Golosaria’ in Milan, that named the Locanda del Mulino as one of the five ‘best Italian venues’ in its category, and the other offered by the Italian Touring Club at the Puccini Theatre in Merano the village restaurant was awarded ‘La Buona Cucina 2009’, choosing it from among three thousand restaurants reviewed in the Piedmont, Valle d’Aosta, Liguria and Lombardy regions.
Particularly significant are the motivations given by the great gastronomist and journalist Luigi Cremona:
"With this characteristic restaurant, Occelli has completed his hamlet of cheeses project, where dishes made with local products from the “Km0” supply chain are served. Not only are his famous cheeses a guarantee of genuineness, but so are many of the regional recipes with all the raw materials that go from pasta to vegetables, to meat. It’s wonderful to share the farming dream of Beppino Occelli who has completed this ambitious project of a “hamlet of cheeses”. Milk, butter, forms of Tume, Losa and Cusiè accompany regional dishes that draw from a generous chain of raw materials of the utmost genuineness."
